Another 4th of July

Jul 05

First let me say, I LOVE our neighborhood. Yesterday we had our fourth cul-de-sac 4th of July celebration. It’s so much fun and yet different every year.  This year we had another BBQ and potluck. There we so many good things to eat with the burgers and hot dogs. I love that we do this every year. This year there was potato salad, green salad, pasta, watermelon, coleslaw, and more.

After we had dinner we all cleaned up a bit and then the fireworks began. We always say at the end of every year we’re going to get less fireworks because it seems like we do so many. This year was no exception. Eric did a great job of lighting the fireworks and deciding which ones we should lite next.  Our new neighbors daughter, Fatima, was so cute.  She made another little friend, Emma. The two girls sat together hugging, cheering, and clapping at every firework display. They were so adorable. I think Sammy and Pla got pictures this year. I was so busy getting things ready that I forgot to charge my camera.

After we celebrate the 4th each year I can’t help but thinking how much I really love my neighbors and neighborhood. You know in this day and age it’s not often that you live somewhere that you know all your neighbors, that you like them, and that you do things together. We’re a great neighborhood.  It’s like a slice of small town America… but international at the same time. In our small cul-de-sac we’ve got people from India, Africa, Japan, Thailand, and America. I think it’s unique and rare… and I like it.

Thanks everyon for another great party!

    Hi Jona,
I didn’t realize you were back blogging somewhere else. I never check the live journal anymore so I was pleasantly surprised to look at it on a whim and see a posting from you. I’ve saved this site cause i’ve missed hearing about your every day activities. Sounds like you guys had a wonderful 4th as usual. You are lucky to have a neighborhood that is actually a neighborhood and not just a lot of unknown and uncaring people living close to each other!

Thanks for finding me. I have started blogging again. I’m trying to get better about it too because I know many people like to hear what I’m doing. I also like having it as reference when I’m journaling for my scrapbook. I can’t guarantee that things will always be interesting here because I’m mushed all my blogs into one, but you’re more than welcome to comment any time. It’s great hearing from you.
