My dog is a mouser

Jul 17

I’m not sure if I told everyone but a few weeks ago Baylee had started going after something in the yard. She’d jump in the flowers and smell and try and dig. I, for the life of me, had no clue what was going on. Well, last week I found out when Eric spotted a dead mouse on the deck. I couldn’t believe. Eric was pretty sure Baylee did it since the cats aren’t allowed out and we haven’t seen cats in our yard for a long time. Well, today, she did the same thing and i think, if I hadn’t stopped her she wold have killed it and dropped in on the deck. Argh…. I don’t like dead animals… I don’t like my dog being a mouser. she’s a DOG! Cats are supposed to be the mousers.

Didn't go to work today

Jul 14

I decided last night I wasn’t going to work today. Why? Well I didn’t have any meeting, my allergies are driving me nuts and I just needed a mental day to absorb everything oh, and get ready to have Ethan here for the next week. Now, I’m really, really glad I decided that because last night the animals decided to be their most obnoxious selves so I didn’t get much sleep. Baylee decided we needed to get her rawhide stuck under the dresser about 2am so it was either let her claw the new dresser feet or do something about it. SO I got up, grabbed the flashlight and found the raw hide to give it to her. Of course she took that opportunity to take the rawhide in the bathroom, our bathroom and fling it around and chase after it. She likes to do that because, like downstairs the rawhide goes all over the place. It was so maddening, so Eric got up and got her out of the bathroom and shut the door. Then she decided she needed to be on the bed, right by our heads and chew on her raw hide. argh…. that didn’t last long because then she decided she needed to chase Cynder, who was leaving the room. Once Baylee jumped off the bed Jazmine started with her whining, she’s getting to be like Bonalee with the whining sometimes. And so the story goes, you get the picture. SO much for a good qualty sleep night. Later, when Eric got up for work we both said that was the worst sleep night ever. Yeah, great for me who needs 8 hours of sleep or she’s a grump. SO today I’m home, chilling, gonna read a bit, take a shower and probably do a few scrapbook layouts. I’m all caught up to this time last year. I’d like to get it done soon.

Baylee

Can I just say…. I LOVE my dog. I took this picture over the weekend and I have to say, I really like it alot. I basically put the camera down to her level and took the picture. The cool thing about my camera is that the LCD display swivels around so you can turn it and get pictures like this more easily.

The things we love

The things we love

I was scrapbooking a bit today and came across this picture in the process. I love… I mean LOVE this picture.

This is Baylee and Ethan.  Last year, while Ethan’s parents were in Alaska I took care of him for 13 days.  This picture was taken during that time.  Ethan loves Baylee.  I love this picture for some many reasons.  I love it because it’s got my wonderful, well behaved dog being as gentle as can be and letting Ethan give her a kiss on the nose.  Something to note too:  Baylee does not let anyone else kiss her on the nose but Eric, myself and Ethan.  I guess that shows how much she loves him.

The other reason I love this picture is that Ethan is in it.  He’s the sweetest boy in the world. Eric and I had talked about having kids and determined that if we could have a child as great and wonderful as Ethan we might consider it.  I mean Ethan doesn’t have temper tantrums, he’s very sweet, well mannered and a total joy.  I could eat him up.  I love too that he calls me “Aunt Jona”.  I didn’t even encourage it, his parent did.  Ross, Ethan dad, and I are such great friends that we do feel like family. This coming weekend I have Ethan over night.  We’re planning on heading to Corbett for the pancake feed and ride the firetruck.  I bet he’ll have a great time.
