For rent?

May 22

Eric and I just got back from having dinner downtown with friends. We happened to take the Max and were walking by Greg and Hollie’s old house. There’s a GIANT for rent sign in it. I can’t believe it. How sad to know that their old house will now be a rental like many of the homes are becoming around here. I honestly have to say it was sad to see. I wonder to if the people from California that bought Greg and Hollie’s place are the same people that have bought 3-4 others around here including the house next to us and are renting them all.

Spring break

Spring break

I’m going to keep this short because I have a MILLION things to get done before I go back to work on Monday. I just want to toot my own horn for a bit. Eric and I have been talking for a while that we want to build another raised bed on the other side of our back yard but haven’t done it. We’ve been saying we needed to build the thing for the last year. Well, yesterday I did it… Me… all by myself me. Eric was at work and we’d gotten the materials the day before so I had everything I needed. Before I started it was a nothing spot, just for the dog. I had three oak barrels on that side of the lattice but other than that, not a whole lot. Yesterday I built the beds, even made them pretty level, just don’t bring it out and check. I took the soil from the oak barrels and put it in the beds and then tossed a million bazzilion amount of peet moss in there with some great organic soil. After I got all that done I planted the herbs for that garden. We’re going to have a ton and a half of them. I think we’ve got just about every herb that grows here.

After finishing the garden I build the little deck for the BBQ. Before the BBQ was up to the house and on top of a pile of river rock. I took all that river rock and put it in between the deck supports so that things not going anywhere. I also picked up all the river rock mixed in with the pea gravel too so now the space is all pea gravel. Now the BBQ is on a nice deck and I got a shepherds hook and put it right next to is to hook the light out there when Eric’s BBQing. I love the way it looks now. It’s great and I did it…. all by myself :)

Tomorrow we’re working on the rest of the garden. We’ve got to add soil and Peet and then put the 1 foot grid in and plant and then put in irrigation. I can’t wait though. This year we’re doing the 1 foot gardening method which is a great concept. It makes it easier to plant things too. I found the book at Coscto and was glad I did. I took measurements of just the garden and herb sections of the raised beds, NOT the flower part and it’s over 100 square feet.. That’s a lot. Tomorrow I’ll take pictures of the rest of the garden for you all.

It’s done…and family

Nov 03

Tonight we signed the closing on the refinance for the house. Woo Hoo… What a deal, nice to know that’s over. It was nice too because we just had to come in with $10.05 to finish the deal.

After signing my life away Eric and I headed up to his brother’s which is a simple block and a half away, not for long though as next year they plan to move to Ellensburg. We went to visit since it had been forever since we’d done so and. to get my Tupperware bowl that they used on Halloween night, it had been filled with candy. We stayed about a hour and had a blast. It was a great visit. We talked about all sorts of things and then not much of things. Miles had a blast with Eric telling him to “fall down” so Mile could tackle him. It was so cute. Eric really got a work out. I got to play with Beth, and she didn’t cry. I was worried she’d cry when I picked her up, only because we don’t see the much and when she was young was when the Dr.s told me I couldn’t lift more than 10 lbs which meant no babies so we didn’t get that kind of bonding. Beth was a gem. She’s got the chubbiest of cheeks and when she smiles it’s ear to ear. Miles is changing too. Every time I see him I’m reminded that he’s not a little baby anymore but growing to be a little person. he’s really got a personality and just so darn cute.

It’s going to be a shame for us when they move… but great for all the grandparents.

Thanks Greg and Hollie for a great night.

Huh????

Feb 03

Ok, let’s just say I can’t believe it’s the 3rd of February and I haven’t written for almost a week. Why? I’d like to say I’ve been super busy with things and I guess in a sense I have been but not too busy that I couldn’t jot a few things down here. I think the real reason is that no one responds to my postings and so I have to wonder if anyone is reading this or should I just go back to the paper type of journal.

I think we’re getting pretty settled in the house. It hasn’t even been a month and most things are put away. I’m hoping Eric is working a bit on the garage today so when I get home I can put my grandmother’s china away and run a few errands. I just want everything put away but it’s not happening that much. When we were in the condo it wasn’t long until everything was put away or placed in the storage unit. I think with all the extra room we have now it’s easy to drop something into a closet or room and never see it for weeks and then when you see it, it gets moved to another room.

This weekend was Super bowl. Eric and I went to Seattle and stayed with John and Brandi. I can’t believe it had been so long since I’d seen them. We had a great weekend. I wished we could have seen my cousins but between me waiting until the last minute to call them and the crazy schedules we both had it just wasn’t in the cards. Maybe next time. got to go….

Painting and people

Jan 02

Today Eric and I went over and did some more painting on the house. It’s coming together really nicely. I like the sage green and hunter green. When we’re all moved in I’ll take an after picture. When my brother tells me how to add pictures I’ll put a before and after here. Until then you can see the before pictures on snapfish.com. If you don’t have the password and log in ID I gave you then e-mail me and I’ll give it to you.

The keyword for today was tedious. It was such a pain to do the touch up work on the painting. it took forever. part of the problem is I’m anal about the paint job, so Eric says. he was a trooper and did most of the touch up while I did the touch up on the part where the ceiling and wall meet. We did a good job of taping the master bedroom too. I think that’s where we’ll start tomorrow. Just have the master and the office to finish. I think after we move we’ll figure out what to do with the guest bedroom, the bathrooms and the dining room.

We went over to Greg and Hollie’s today too. Miles was so cute. When we came in the door he held out his hands to Eric signaling that he wanted up. He loves his uncle Eric. It’s so cute to see the two of them together. We sat and chatted for a while and then went and got lunch for all of us. Greg is sick with the flu cootie. I’m hoping Eric doesn’t have the cootie. He’s had a sore throat all day and Hollie said that was how her flu cootie started. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m so glad that we went to see Greg and Hollie. It was a lot of fun. Once we move we’ll be down the street from them. I’m excited about that. Hollie and I can scrapbook and hang out then.

Well, got to go.. time for bed. tomorrow is a day filled with painting and sealing grout… don’t you wish you were me :)
